Sergio Godinho
Apesar de já andar por aí há uns anos, este senhor é, na minha opinião, o melhor artista português da actualidade.
Nasceu no Porto em 1945 mas com 20 anos saiu de Portugal para evitar a guerra colonial só regressando depois do 25 de Abril. Nos nove anos que esteve fora do país Sérgio Godinho esteve em vários países e cidades mas foi em Paris que iniciou a sua carreira musical.
Durante dois anos participou no espectáculo musical "Hair", colaborou com José Mário Branco no álbum "Mudam-se os Tempos, Mudam-se as Vontades" e lançou os seus dois primeiros álbuns: "Os Sobreviventes" em 1971 e no ano seguinte o álbum "Pré-Histórias".
No momento em que se dá o 25 de Abril Sérgio Godinho estava no Canadá com a primeira mulher. Regressou a Portugal nesse mesmo ano e lançou o álbum "À Queima-Roupa".
De então para cá tem editado com regularidade e sempre com qualidade. Colaborou com diversos projectos musicais e ocasionalmente como actor em projectos de televisão, cinema e teatro e também publicou livros (O pequeno livro dos medos - texto e ilustrações [livro infantil]; O sangue por um fio [livro de poemas]).

John Lennon
É sem duvida um dos maiores génios da história da música. Em 2002 entrou na lista dos 100 britânicos mais influentes de sempre.
John Winston Lennon nasceu em 1940 na cidade britanica de Liverpool e tornou-se mundialmente famoso como um dos quatro integrantes da banda que revolucionou a música nos anos 60 os Beatles.
Depois da banda se separar John Lennon iniciou uma carreira a solo(ou re-iniciou, visto já ter lançado 3 albuns a solo [sem grande sucesso] enquanto ainda estava nos Beatles).
Ao contrário dos primeiros albuns que eram muito experimentais e com gravações caseiras esta segunda fase da sua carreira esteve recheada de sucessos (Imagine, Woman, Instant Karma, Jealous Guy...).
Em 1980 e depois de 5 anos sem gravar Lennon lançou o seu último álbum "Double Fantasy" que marcava o regresso aos discos e ao sucesso. Do álbum faziam parte canções como "(Just Like)Starting Over", "Woman", "Watching the Wheels" e "Beautiful Boy". Mas aquele que devia ser o álbum de regresso foi o último a 8 de Dezembro desse mesmo ano John Lennon foi assassinado por Mark David Chapman (o sujeito da foto da esquerda)

John Winston Lennon nasceu em 1940 na cidade britanica de Liverpool e tornou-se mundialmente famoso como um dos quatro integrantes da banda que revolucionou a música nos anos 60 os Beatles.
Depois da banda se separar John Lennon iniciou uma carreira a solo(ou re-iniciou, visto já ter lançado 3 albuns a solo [sem grande sucesso] enquanto ainda estava nos Beatles).
Ao contrário dos primeiros albuns que eram muito experimentais e com gravações caseiras esta segunda fase da sua carreira esteve recheada de sucessos (Imagine, Woman, Instant Karma, Jealous Guy...).
Em 1980 e depois de 5 anos sem gravar Lennon lançou o seu último álbum "Double Fantasy" que marcava o regresso aos discos e ao sucesso. Do álbum faziam parte canções como "(Just Like)Starting Over", "Woman", "Watching the Wheels" e "Beautiful Boy". Mas aquele que devia ser o álbum de regresso foi o último a 8 de Dezembro desse mesmo ano John Lennon foi assassinado por Mark David Chapman (o sujeito da foto da esquerda)

Para a minha mãe
Se a postagem anterior era sobre um dos cantores preferidos do meu pai, esta postagem é sobre um dos cantores preferidos da minha mãe e a referencia maior da música portuguesa da segunda metade do Séc. XX.
José Manuel Cerqueira Afonso dos Santos nasceu em Aveiro em 1929 e faleceu em Setúbal em 1987 ficou conhecido no mundo da música como Zeca Afonso.
Começou por cantar fado de Coimbra, cidade para onde foi estudar em 1940, e música tradicional portuguesa, enverdando posteriormente pela música de intervenção.
Nasceu em Aveiro em 1929 e até aos 3 anos (1932) foi criado por uns tios indo nesse ano para Angola onde estavam os pais há já 2 anos, regressa a Portugal e a Aveiro em 1937 por breve tempo antes de regressar a África, desta vez para Moçambique para onde os pais se tinham mudado.
em 1938 regressa a Portugal para casa de um tio paterno em Belmonte onde completou a instrução primária. Em 1940 vai estudar para Coimbra onde inicia a sua carreira musical.
Entre 1958-1959 foi professor em Alcobaça. Em 1964 parte de novo para Moçambique onde foi professor do liceu. Ao regressar a Portugal é colocado como professor em Setúbal mas devido as suas actividades contra o regime salazarista acaba expulso do ensino e, para sobreviver, dá explicações e grava o seu primeiro álbum, "Baladas e Canções".
Foi por diversas vezes preso pela policia politica do regime.
Em 1971, edita "Cantigas do Maio", no qual surge "Grândola Vila Morena", que será mais tarde imortalizada como um dos símbolos da revolução de Abril.
Em 1985 é editado o seu último álbum de originais, "Galinhas do Mato", em que, devido ao avançado estado da doença, José Afonso não consegue cantar na totalidade. Devido a isso, o álbum foi completado por: José Mário Branco,Helena Vieira, Fausto e Luís Represas. Em 1986, já em fase terminal da sua doença, apoia a candidatura de Maria de Lourdes Pintassilgo à presidência da república.
José Afonso morreu no dia 23 de Fevereiro de 1987, no Hospital de Setúbal, às 3 horas da madrugada, vítima de esclerose lateral amiotrófica. Será certamente recordado como um resistente que conseguiu trazer a palavra de protesto contra o regime do Estado Novo e depois contra a própria revolução de Abril que acabaria por enveredar por outros caminhos mas também a música popular portuguesa e também pelas suas outras músicas, de que são exemplo as suas baladas.

Uma vantagem de se ser o mais novo de 5 irmãos, e de haver uma diferença de dez anos com aquele que está mais perto (em termos de idade) é que acabamos por sofrer inúmeras influencias musicais.
Somando a isso uns pais que também vivem rodeados de música e tem uma ideia daquilo que foi crescer na minha casa. Vem esta conversa a propósito do SENHOR que se segue.
